Agtribe is a platform for farmers to advertise equipment for hire (wet or dry) which is otherwise sitting idle in the shed or paddock.
Farmers and contractors looking to hire equipment will have the ability to search the area for a piece of
equipment they may need to get the job done in a cost effective and efficient way, whether it be dry hire or
Being a mixed grazing and cropping farmer i found it hard to justify having every piece of machinery
throughout the year so i turned to contracting or dry hiring.
Over the years I have had a need for the use of hire equipment on the farm, whether it has been a second
tractor at sowing, or a truck and trailer at harvest through to a sheep jetting race for fly prevention. However I could not justify purchasing this equipment given that I only required it at certain times of the year and not very long.
To overcome this problem I decided to hire equipment and then noticed there were some benefits of being able to do this for both owner and hirer, due to the fact that I was able to hire equipment in a cost effective way and that the owner received a financial gain by getting paid for machinery which would have otherwise been sitting idle in the shed.
The concern I had when hiring equipment from other people was "what if something went wrong with the
machinery whilst on hire", to take this concern out of the equation I contacted our insurance agency who
provided a policy which was able to cover us in the event something went wrong with the hired equipment on our farm.
Once I understood I was covered I felt comfortable hiring the equipment and so did the owner.
As of Jan 2017 Insurance can be done on a case by case basis through mack insurance services based in Wagga Wagga. Great to have you on board MACK. Owners and hirers can contact MACK for further information on policies which can cover you for dry hire and contracting.
Agtribe ag machinery hire could be beneficial for the following people:
- For those who are not able to justify buying something due to the fact they only need it for a short period of time throughout the year.
- Farmers who own machinery which breaks down at a crucial time.
- Buying equipment to then hire it out if you can not quite justify having the ag machinery.
- To become more efficient in the way you run you farming operation by not having too much money tied up in machinery finance.
An example of machinery that can be listed for dry hire but not restricted too:
Posthole diggers, sheep handling equipment, silo bag in/out loaders, wool press, tractors, trucks, trailers, fencing equipment, header attachments, field/motherbins, tillage equipment, shed space for hay/equipment, silo space, irrigation equipment and Hay equipment.
Unable to be advertised for hire
Not every machine is built to be hired.
Machinery which cannot be listed for dry hire at the moment due to insurance.
Headers (fires), Mower Conditioners (rocks), Slashers(rocks).
